Last month I wrote about Border's Group filling for bankruptcy. I questioned whether giant book stores will even last with the advancement of Amazon.com and eBooks. Well, it appears that Barnes and Noble is in much better shape. Currently, Barnes and Noble has $900 million more is assets and online sales have jumped 52% in the recent quarter. Also, Barnes and Noble has their Nook and Nook Color to complete with the Kindle from Amazon and the iPad from Apple.
I agree with some points in the article. First, I always did think Barnes and Noble's stores were nicer, with a better selection. I just felt more comfortable when in a Barnes and Noble. Maybe there is just not room for two jumbo book stores along with all the super stores. Maybe the Nook can save Barnes and Noble.
