The CHS Library is October Ready

Big shout-out to the Carlson High School Literacy Team for their hard work decorating the library for October. The student leader of the CHS Literacy Team Evan Bonello continues to work hard to make the library an inviting workspace for the students of Carlson High School. During the month of October, Carlson students also have the opportunity to recommend new authors/titles for addition to the Carlson library collection. The best way to add new books to our collection is to hear right from our patrons. Thank you to all of the staff and students that have provided excellent suggestions during the month. Look for titles to be added before Thanksgiving break. The literacy team still has some big plans for the remainder of the month including planning a reading visit to Chapman Elementary School and creating a book display to welcome  author John Green's  new release Turtles All the Way Down .  Happy Booktober and keep reading!

I Survived Another Homecoming

September was a blur. Usually the first month of the school year moves slowly. Not this year....Homecoming 2017 fell on 9/22/2017...the third week (and only the second full week) of the school year. Throw in coaching Shumate Cross Country, running my own kids all over Downriver, and DJng a few gigs here or there September seemed to last about thirty-eight minutes. Oh wait, did I mention I had to keep up on all of my daily library duties as well? You know, just enjoying a dance with 960 of my closest friends So after over 900 Marauders enjoyed their homecoming dance on Saturday 9/23/17 (while it was 90 degrees by the way; where are all those stupid Al Gore jokes now?) I finally can get set with a somewhat normal writing and work schedule. October will see frequent updates and lots to share. Two big news items to kick off the month: Our Carlson High School Literacy Team held our first meeting today after school. We have a lot of great ideas planned in for the 2017 - 2018 school
